Paprika Beef

Paprika Beef

This recipe is very similar to Goulash, a Hungarian dish which uses lots of paprika and sour cream.

I cook it in my pressure cooker, and only takes 20 minutes. Otherwise, 1 1/2 hours in a moderate oven.

Preparation Time:  10 Minutes
Cooking Time:  20 minutes

1 1/2 lb. stewing steak, cubed 2 heaped tblsp paprika - don't skimp on this.
1 large onion, chopped 1 beef stock cube
1 red pepper, chopped 1 teasp sugar
1 tin crushed tomatoes Hot pepper sauce, to taste
3 cloves garlic, crushed

Heat a tablespoon of cooking oil in a pressure cooker, and lightly brown the beef cubes. Add the onion and red pepper and sweat until the onions are translucent but not browned. Add the rest of the ingredients, stir well and bring to the boil. Put the lid, bring to high pressure and cook for 20 minutes.

Serve with creamed potatoes, buttered cabbage and a dollop of sour cream on top.
